What’s Happening this New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and whether you want to welcome 2017 with the kids or have an adult only evening, there’s all kinds of celebrations going on in and around the Maryland area.

Family Friendly
2017 Annapolis New Year’s Celebration
The 2017 Annapolis New Year’s celebration has something for everyone. A kid friendly celebration located behind Maryland Hall starts at 3:00 with live music by local teen bands and plenty of activities for the kids including face painting, moon bounce and obstacle course. The first of two fireworks displays starts at 5:30 for the younger ones who won’t be up at midnight. Move on down to City Dock where the celebrating kicks into high gear around 8:00. A DJ starts off the night and Radio City takes over at 9:00 and plays until midnight. The second fireworks display concludes the countdown at midnight ringing in 2017. Symphony of Lights
Celebrate the new year at Symphony of Lights family-oriented spectacular. Drive through the dazzling display and ring in the ‘New Year’ at 7:00 with a fireworks display. The festivities being at 5:00 and include live entertainment, food, party favors and more! The outdoor ice skating rink will be open for families to enjoy. The event runs 5:00-8:00 and is located at Merriweather Park in Columbia. Tickets are $20 ages 5 and up and there is an additional fee for use of the skating rink.

Baltimore’s New Year’s Eve Spectacular
Baltimore’s celebration at the Inner Harbor is one not to be missed. Festivities start at 9:00 with music by Super Bueno at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater. The evening is topped off with an amazing fireworks display at the stroke of midnight. The Pandora Ice Rink will be open with extended hours for those wishing to glide across the ice. Public transportation is the easiest way to get downtown during the holidays, consider using the Metro, Light Rail or bus. Go to mta.mayland.gov for schedules.

The Town of Ocean City
Make a weekend of it and head to Ocean City. The town of OC hosts a New Year’s Eve celebration at Northside Park. Board the Winterfest Express for a drive through the award winning Winterfest of Lights display with more than a million sparkling lights and animated displays. Then kick back in the heated tent to enjoy live entertainment and warm hot chocolate. The display has extended hours on New Year’s Eve with a fireworks display to welcome the new year at midnight. Adventure Park
Bring the whole family to Adventure Park USA in Frederick for the ultimate New Year’s celebration. The event starts at 9:00 and includes all these fun activities – laser tag, ropes course, spin zone bumper cars, rock wall and video games. Tickets can be purchased online and include a light meal and drinks. Tickets can be bought online for $25 at Adventure Park tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door for $33.

Big Night Baltimore
Big Night Baltimore’s New Year’s Eve Gala is one of the hottest galas of the season. Ring in the new year at The Grand Historic Venue & Hotel in downtown Baltimore. The 21 and over event is held throughout the venue with multiple party rooms and dance floors. Tickets include a buffet dinner with selections such as Baked Ziti and Bruschetta Pomodora. Full open bar is included with multiple bars serving from 9:00 – 1:30. The entertainment lineup includes numerous DJs as well as bands, go-go dancers and glow-in-the-dark paint artist. Big Night DC
The Gaylord National Hotel & Resort is the backdrop for Big Night DC New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. The spectacular celebration includes fifteen themed party areas (who wouldn’t love the Best of 70’s, 80’s & 90’s dance tunes in the Retro Ballroom), five dance floors, bands, a host of DJs and a huge midnight countdown celebration. A buffet with Antipasto and Oriechetta Pasta with Pesto is served from 9:00-11:00 with full ‘Deluxe’ open bar serving drinks until 2:00. Charm City Countdown New Year’s Eve Party
Charm City Countdown presents Once Upon a Time, A New Year’s Eve Tale 2017. Dine, drink, dance and dream at this enchanting celebration held at the gorgeous Hilton BWI Hotel. Enjoy premium open and specialty bars, dinner buffets, ten party zones, casino action, and a large array of bands, DJs and other amazing entertainment. As midnight strikes, ring in 2017 with a champagne toast and whimsical balloon drop. Come dressed in typical NYE attire or as your favorite royal or fairy tale character. Tickets start at $99 and can be bought at Charm City Countdown tickets.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruises
Ring in the new year on the water. Cruises on the Bay has two celebratory cruise events – Annapolis New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruise and Charm City New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruise. Catherine Marie departs from Annapolis’s City Dock and Raven departs from Baltimore Inner Harbor Finger Piers. Both cruises include DJ entertainment, dancing, light snacks and fully stocked cash bar.
