2017 Acura ILX Review
Looking for an affordable luxury vehicle. Take a look at the 2017 Acura ILX. The compact sedan has a spacious interior, generous standard features and a standard high performance powertrain. Coming off a fresh redesign last year, the ILX remains a strong contender in its class.
Loaded with the latest safety features and technology, the 2017 Acura ILX puts safety first. Antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front head restraints and a rearview camera are standard, along with front, front side and side curtain airbags. Available AcuraWatch safety technology is available with the AcuraWatch Plus package and the Technology Plus package. Included in these packages is adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist system, and road departure mitigation system. The Premium, Technology Plus and A-Spec packages add additional safety features such as blind spot information system and rear cross traffic monitor.
Luxurious and Accommodating Interior
With last year’s upgrade, the 2017 Acura ILX cabin is quieter than ever. Even with an affordable price tag, the ILX interior is luxurious with soft touch surfaces, premium quality materials and a modern dual screen infotainment system. Front and rear seating is comfortable and roomy with stylish standard leatherette or upgraded remarkably soft perforated leather. The suede seating with contrast stitching, aluminum pedals and red instrument panel lighting in the A-Spec package is stunning. The base model is nicely equipped with power sunroof, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with Pandora radio, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth connectivity and USB and auxiliary ports.
Bold and Stunning Exterior Design
The 2017 Acura ILX exterior is sleek and edgy and sets itself apart from others in its class. Acura’s innovative Jewel Eye LED lighting, LED running lights and LED taillights provide a safer driving experience and add to the stylish exterior. Sporting Acura classic styling, the front end features the iconic Acura grille. 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on all models except the A-Spec package that adds 18-inch machine finished wheels. Completing the exterior of the A-Spec package is foglights, a rear spoiler, and side sills.
The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine in the 2017 Acura ILX is standard across the board and produces 201 horsepower. The 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is a favorite in its class and provides smooth shifting when in drive and quick when using the paddles. Acura added a torque converter in the system for enhanced power delivery. The ILX fuel economy is good with an EPA of 25 mpg city and 35 highway.
